The Sanford Project committed to seek cure for Type 1 Diabetes

Sanford Project researchers have reached a critical milestone in a clinical trial testing a combination of two medications to determine if the drugs can help patients with type 1 diabetes keep their blood glucose levels under control with less or no insulin. In the trial termed REPAIR-T1D, two FDA-approved drugs, sitagliptin and lansoprazole, are evaluated for their potential clinical benefits in T1D patients.

Wang appointed interim director of SDSU Technology Transfer Office

C.Y. Wang, associate dean of research and extension for the South Dakota State University College of Education and Human Sciences (Brookings, SD,) has been appointed interim director of the university’s Technology Transfer Office. Wang has been principal investigator for several research grants, in addition to serving as department head for the former nutrition, food science and hospitality department at SDSU. His research involvement addresses the chemistry, analysis and health impacts of food components and processing. Wang has also authored numerous scientific publications on food and nutrition and has received awards from national associations for his cutting-edge work.

Major grant helps cancer research at Sanford Research/USD

Five research labs at the Center for Cancer Biology Research at Sanford Research/USD will benefit from a multi-million dollar, five-year grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The NIH has awarded the Center for Cancer Biology Research $2.3 million annually for research done on breast, head and neck, colon, prostate and lymphoid cancers.
